Rev. Dr. Larry McDonald, Sr.

The Reverend Dr. Larry McDonald, Sr., Pastor of St John AME Church. Pastor McDonald is married to Lady Sheila Vanhook McDonald. The proud parents of two children: Larry McDonald, Jr. (Tasmin), Olivia Simone McDonald, and one grandchild (Taylen).

 

Pastor McDonald serves on numerous Western North Carolina Conference-level committees, namely, the Board of Examiners, Chair of Abandon Properties Committee, and he is the Chief Marshall of Protocol. Also, he is a cabinet member for the Western District’s Presiding Elder.  Pastor McDonald has preached to many congregations, with one of his greatest experiences being when he preached a revival in Cantina, Italy, in February 2005.  He was selected to preach the Annual Sermon at the opening of the 113th session of the Western North Carolina Conference in 2006.
