Who We Are

Rev. Dr. Terri & Minister Simeon Hutchinson

On January 2, 2010, Minister Simeon and Reverend Terri Hutchinson were joined in holy matrimony. Simeon is a native of Savannah, Georgia, and a graduate of Shaw University, where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications. He also holds a Master of Education from Liberty University with a specialization in School Counseling. He accepted his call to ministry on November 4, 2012, and was licensed to minister the Gospel in March 2013 in the African Methodist Episcopal Church. Since then, he has been on the move for Christ through preaching, teaching, mentoring youth, and other activities. Min. Simeon is currently the Chair of the Sons of Allen Men’s Ministry at St. John. Reverend Terri Hutchinson is originally from Swansea, South Carolina. She graduated from UNC-Greensboro with a Bachelor of Arts and a Master of Arts in English. She also holds a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling and Educational Leadership. She is an Instructor of English at Johnston Community College and a published author of inspirational fiction. Rev. Hutchinson was ordained in the African Methodist Episcopal Church in June 2013 and was blessed to serve as pastor at St. Matthew AMEC of Weldon, NC. She currently serves as Director of Christian Education for St. John. Now residing in Knightdale, NC, the Hutchinsons are the proud parents of a little girl. They also have a daughter who is a resident of Savannah, Georgia. Together, they strive to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ through word and action and to encourage others through their testimony of God’s love. 

Rev. Dr. Deborah Burroughs

Rev. Dr. Deborah Burroughs was called into ministry and did her initial sermon at St. Joseph AME Church in Durham, North Carolina in September 2010. She was ordained as Local Deacon in October 2011 at St. Matthew AME Church in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Local Elder in September of 2020. She has served as an associate pastor at St. Joseph AME Church, Bethel AME Church, San Francisco, California, and St. Andrews AME Church in Sacramento, California, and Allen Chapel AME Church. Rev. Burroughs lives her life based on faith in God, and one of her favorite scriptures is Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
